Star Gazer Farm

Cavaluna

"If you are lucky you will find a horse that contains the expanse of the ocean. When you sit on him, you will feel the beginning of time and all those evolutions out of the sea. It will overwhelm you at first, of course. But if you can allow that vastness, not shrink or panic in response, you will find he laughs at the restrictions other horses face. He will change shape beneath you, like a wave, like a river, like a flood and when you dismount you will find your soul is washed clean." ~ Anonymous

Silverstone

Silverstone is a son of Champion du Lys, who won many Grand Prix with Ludger Beerbaum and also won the Derby of Hamburg twice.

Silverstone's dam Marthago is a fantastic Holsteiner brood mare. She was awarded the 'Keur' predicate from the KWPN studbook. She is also the dam of the Zangersheide approved stallion Chuck Z. Grand dam Aline is the dam of the stallion Laralle and the international showjumper Corniola.

Furthermore, we find the two-time Olympic stallion Carthago, who also sires strongly in the jumping direction. Then the Ramiro x Gotthard son, Renomee, who also sired more international jumping horses. The thoroughbreds Thuswin xx and Anblick xx provide the necessary blood.

Silverstone received the highest points, during the KWPN Stallion Test and finished in 1st place for jumping and a 3rd place in the total classification. With Dennis van Tilburg Silverstone won the stallion competition 2006/2007. They done this by winning 3 out of the 4 qualification rounds. He then competed successfully in 1.50m classes with Philippa Curry.

Silverstone's offspring sure know how to jump! The mares Bigeunerin and B. Ocinthe were placed 2nd and 3rd at the Dutch Loose Jumping Championship 2009. His son Winston was Dutch Champion of the 4 year old show jumpers. Bugatti got his approval from the KWPN in 2009 and was placed 3rd in the jumping final of the Stallion Competition 2011/2012.

Silverstone's oldest offspring are competing and winning at the highest level in international classes. Waterstone II (R. Whitaker) won the puissance at the CSI in Stockholm by jumping over 2.12m bareback! Wigeunerin won the Grand Prix at the CSI** in Drachten. Silverstone's offspring is doing well in American hunter classes where his son Listen was awarded the Grand Conformation Hunter 2011.

Silverstone also is a fantastic sire of potential event horses and is described by British and American event horse breeders as, "a jumping phenomenon to the event breeding industry". He throws elegant modern sport horses with athletic paces and a powerful balanced jump. He is the perfect choice to improve the typical event mares.

Luna dam, Riviera was out of the Grand Prix show jumping mare Kilkenny Lesandra, and by the world renowned Ferro.

Riviera's full sister, Pearl, carries a Preferent predicate based on her successful progeny, she is the dam of three Keur predicate daughters and grand dam of 2010 NA-KWPN Winner of the Gert van der Veen Award & 2010 NA-KWPN Jumping Champion.

Ferro (also known as Olympic Ferro) is a foundation sire whose influence is still felt long after his death in 2005; in the 2016 Sire Rankings, he was in 12th, ahead of numerous living sires. He was particularly valued for his exceptional temperament and outstanding use of the hindleg, with a brilliant attitude to his work that has been passed on to his offspring. He was not only a successful dressage stallion, but also scored well in the jumping sections his performance test, with comments that he showed a good technique over a fence and powerful gallop.

As a three-year-old, Ferro was champion of his performance test at Ermelo. Ferro won team silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games (where he finished individual 6th), the 1999 European Championships and the 2000 Olympic Games under Copy van Baalen of the Netherlands. The pair’s greatest achievement came when they placed second in the World Cup Final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch scoring over 80% for their freestyle.

His sire, Ulft, is a son of keur stallion, Le Mexico, a typical jumper progenitor, with a high jumping index. Le Mexico’s sire Mexico is a full brother to the famous Furioso II, a much celebrated jumping sire in France. Ferro’s dam, Brenda, is a daughter of the Holsteiner, Farn, who was himself very high on the jumping index with 146 points.

Riviera's grandsire, Gentleman (Boreas/Lucky Boy xx), performed at the highest sport level under Yves Houtackers and Rob Ehrens. Apart from his outstanding career in showjumping he owes his fame to his achievements as a sire, resulting in the KWPN promoting him to keur stallion. Several of his offspring have been performing at Grand Prix level, such as Kid-Gentleman (Yves Houtackers), Lutopia (Molly Ashe), Loretta (Peter Geerink), full sisters Lesandra (Sayre Happy) and Mesandra (Karim El Zoghby) and Maykel (Rudi Helsen). Gentleman offspring Ups-a-Daisy made a name for herself at the Lanaken World Championships, was successful under Mischa Everse and Doron Kuipers and later on the American Todd Minikus.

Gentleman's grandsire was Jasper who was by the Thoroughbred stallion Courville, historically one of the most influential TB sires in KWPN breeding. Jasper, under the name Little One, was a successful show jumper, and won the prestigious Hamburg show jumping Derby in 1977 with Hugo Simon. Once retired from competitions, he was re-named Jasper and became one of the world's leading show jumping sires.
