This tall correct powerful colt has a gentle and earnest nature that makes him a treat to work with and a barn favourite. The judge at his inspection noted his correctness of leg conformation, quality of bone, powerful gaits, and potential for dressage. He has upper level dressage potential with natural ability for collection and rhythm. With more training his easy temperament will make him suitable for an amateur or junior rider. So far under saddle he is proving to be forward minded but sensible. He is also a super hunter candidate having the type of gaits that would have him consistently pinning in the hacks and the potential to be a great equitation mount. Early work over poles has shown him to be very careful, thoughtful, and willing. See below for videos of Bellamy and information about his heritage. Bellamy's dam, Czaftig, was used for fox hunting until being retired to breeding and her full sister still is used for that purpose. Czaftig's dam, EM Werra, produced twelve offspring who found success in both the hunter ring as well as the dressage ring. She was an elite mare which is the Canadian equivalent to an SPS mare in Germany.
Bellamy's sire, Bonheur, achieved a top evaluation in rideability at his stallion licensing test in Adelheidsdorf in 1996. He received a 9 for walk and 8 for trot and canter, also receiving 8's for character & temperament. Bonheur won the Championship Stallion Show in Griesbeek, Holland in 1997 and qualified for the Bundeschampionat in 1998 as a five year old. As a six year old, he won the prestigious Nobilis Cup in Bremen, Germany. He has won numerous dressage shows in "S" Level. His offspring are very elegant with tremendous rideability. They have shown high performance ability in dressage, bringing Bonheur's breeding value in dressage to the top 10% in Germany with an overall 150 points. Bonheur has had offspring compete in both S class dressage and jumping. Bonheur's sire is the legendary Brentano II. Brentano II was a foundation sire for the Hanoverian breed. Sired by Bolero out of renowned brood mare Glocke (by Grande x Ferdinand), Brentano II became the 1985 Hanoverian Licensing Champion, 1986 reserve stallion performance test winner and Hanoverian Stallion of the Year in 2003. He has 1880 registered offspring which are Hanoverian branded. Twenty-three sons are licensed and there are 514 Brentano II-broodmares registered in Germany. His daughter State Premium Mare Bona Dea became the champion of the 2000 Ratje-Niebuhr Elite Mare Show. In the Brandenburg area his daughter Poesie produced a whole new dynasty with World and Bundeschampion Poetin and the licensed stallions Samba Hit I to IV. Brentano II's most famous offspring in the dressage ring were Debbie McDonald's Brentina and Sven Rothenberger's Barclay II. Both competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Bellamy's dam sire is the famous Contucci of Hilltop Farm. Contucci won the dressage portion of his 100-Day Test with an impressive 147.11 points, earning six 9’s and overall Class I status. He then successfully showed in Germany, winning a Bundeschampionate qualifier with 9.2 out of 10 possible points. He has sired over 80 Premium offspring, annual Inspection Site Champions, numerous Elite and Premium mares, and four Licensed sons. The show ring results of Contucci’s offspring have been even more impressive. Rideability and trainability are qualities all riders appreciate. Contucci offspring have shown great success in dressage, eventing, and show hunter. Bellamy's dam's dam sire was World Cup IV who was full brother to the very influential World Cup I who produced 16 licensed stallions, five of whom stood at Celle: Weltmeyer, Walt Disney, Warkant, Wogenspieler and Woodstock. Other famous sires on the dam side of his pedigree include Caprimond, Matcho AA, and Woermann. |
