Name: Drogo
Registered: Hanoverian Date of Birth: May 28, 2021 Sire: Dauphin (Donnerhall/Feiner Stern/Pik Rami) Dam: Raven (Ruiz Soler/Rienzi/Wenzel I) Breeder: Star Gazer Farm Colour: Black Sex: Colt Height: Expected to mature 16.2hh+ Suitability: Dressage & Hunter Price: Sold to Fox Hill Farm, ON Drogo will steal your heart the second you meet him; not only is he unbelievably handsome, but also has just the sweetest personality, with a quiet confidence and an undeniable presence. He is a thoughtful foal who takes his time to ponder information, but also revels in a new challenge. Much to his dam's displeasure, he is a very brave and independent young man.
He has three correct and uphill gaits but his canter is especially nice being simultaneously powerful, smooth, and adjustable; we predict it will be dreamy to ride someday. With a pedigree rich in both successful dressage and hunter sires we feel this colt could excel in either discipline. |
Heritage
Drogo's dam, Raven, is a product of the well respected Marefield Meadows breeding program. She is a lovely mare inside and out. Very correct legs and hooves, with good amount of bone. Excellent hindquarter mechanics and works nicely over her back. Temperament is sweet, cuddly, and willing.
Raven's sire, Ruiz Soler, personifies the essence of the modern riding horse. He returned to Klein Roscharden from the stallion performance test in Neustadt/Dosse as the outstanding winner, receiving scores of 9 and 10 for rideability and jumping which proves his great double talent, combining three excellent basic paces with fascinating jumping qualities. In 2000 he received the Main Premium for the excellent quality of his first foal crop. No wonder with his ancestors: Rubinstein 1 and Argentinus have been top, elite German sport horse makers for years. Ruiz Soler won several riding horse tests as well as dressage horse tests in novice level, before being exported to the United States where he was gelded and went on to success in the hunter ring under the name "Honored".
Raven's grandsire, Rienzi, was also bred and owned by Marefield Meadows. He was the highest placed Hanoverian stallion at his 100 day test in 1998, showing an excellent canter, trot and walk with a strong but elastic back. He showed to 3rd level in dressage. He produces rideable amateur friendly offspring that are athletic and very versatile. They are known for their beautiful feet, strong backs/loins, and a very quick hind leg. They are quiet and lovely to work with. Rienzi offspring have found much success in both the hunter and dressage rings.
Drogo's sire, Dauphin, competed at M level before an injury sidelined his under saddle work. He has produced over 500 German Hanoverian offspring. Of the 112 mares that are in breeding, 27 of them were awarded the coveted States Premium Title. He has 6 licensed and recognized sons carrying on the line. Dauphin has several offspring competing at S class in dressage and one in S class jumping. He has at least 259 offspring now competing in sport. Dauphin has been known as a Celle favourite for a long time for his sweet disposition. Dauphin is on the top list of the Hanoverian breed for type with an outstanding score of 132, and a 143 for limbs!
Dauphin's sire is the legendary Donnerhall. The 2011 Hanoverian Stallion book (the last in which he appears) records that Donnerhall has had 998 competitors, 840 dressage competitors (226 at advanced level) – and even 97 in the jumping ring. He was the sire of 50 licensed sons at that stage.
Dauphin's dam sire was Feiner Stern who at his stallion performance test achieved 9.0 four times for his ability to perform, rideability, trot and gallop. He was awarded the title of main premium winning stallion in Oldenburg in 1987. His first batch of foals brought 4 approved sons.
