Glorioso Noir's fabulous dam line

Winter has finally come to PEI which always leaves me with mixed emotions. On one hand it puts an end to the mud, but on the other hand.... brrrrrrr! One thing I definitely love about winter is how adorable all the horses look sporting their full winter coats. Another thing I love about winter is spending my after barn chore time in the evenings enjoying my electric blanket, hot chocolate and youtube videos of horses... so many videos!!!

I stumbled across a few videos of Glorioso Noir's full brother, Eurocommerce Rome. The original given names for both Rome and Glori was Grundsteins Erbe (I & II). “Erbe” means “heir” in German, and Grundstein was the name of their dam's famous sire. I find it interesting that both stallions had their names changed. Eurocommerce Rome was sold to Italy for DM 450,000 as a jumper!

This brings me to Glori's and Rome's dam, Grosse Liebe. It would be hard to find a damline that has a stronger production record! Grosse Liebe produced two other licensed stallions besides Glori and Rome. Grosse Liebe's dam, Luna, was written up in Eylers millenium edition of ausgewahlte Hengste. Other direct Luna offspring are, Landkoenig, a popular licensed Hanoverian stallion; Grönland, a breed show champion at Devon; Gratulata, a World Cup Qualifier with Michael Matz; Gina, a breeding champion of Luxemburg; a daughter winner of the Zangersheide breeding championships; Genua and Gentleman, Bundeschampionat participants. A Drosselklang filly and a stallion producing Grundstein filly from Luna sold to Paul Schockemöhle. Two offspring sold in the Vechta auction for over DM 100,000.

To say we are excited to have the opportunity to add these important bloodlines into our breeding program would be a huge understatement! 2019 seems much too far away to have to wait to meet our first crop of Glori foals. :-)
Glori is now very adorably fluffy and ready
